2018-19 Miami Valley Fab 50

The following are the top 50 girls’ basketball players in the Dayton (OH) area, as selected by Jim Dabbelt, executive director of The Dabbelt Report. Only sophomores through seniors are eligible for this list.

Maddy Bakosh…..5-9…..Sr…..Springboro : Hoping for a healthy senior season, has been hampered by injuries her entire career. When healthy, is among the elite in the area. She can get her own shot and is a good perimeter shooter. Sees the floor well, excellent length and anticipation. Has a knack for making steals defensively, a good athlete.

Maddie Bartley…..6-3…..Jr…..Fairmont : Future stretch 4 at the college level. Will go inside and score. She has good footwork and solid moves in her arsenal. Rebounds out of her area on both ends of the floor. Power game inside. Runs the floor well. Solid interior defender. (Verbal to Belmont)

Destiny Bohanon…..5-8…..Sr…..Wayne : Destiny is 100% recovered from her injury and is more explosive and stronger than she has ever been. She had a great summer and you will see her showcasing her jump shot at an unbelievable clip this season. Athletic and offensively gifted player. (Signed with Dayton)

Elisabeth Bush…..5-6…..Sr…..Carroll : Liz averaged 11.4 ppg, 2.3 assists per game and 4.7 rebounds per game. In the post-season, Liz averaged 12.8 ppg, 2.8 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game.  Liz is a very talented guard with tremendous basketball IQ and court awareness.

Sam Chable…..5-7…..Sr…..Centerville : Outstanding off-guard who can handle the ball, and produce from the perimeter. Hard nosed kid who gets after it. Can hit the midrange shot, a kid who will help your team win. Going to play at one of the most prestigious D2 schools in the nation. Will be a solid next-level kid. (Signed with Ashland)

Corina Conley…..5-10…..Jr….Franklin Monroe : Offensively she is a strong threat in the post and has worked hard over the summer to become more versatile by increasing her range. She has proven to be tough to guard with her ability to handle the basketball and consistently score no matter what defense is thrown her way. Even though she is a strong offensive player, defense may be her best attribute. Her presence on defense is game changing. Her length, quickness, and ability to read the ball makes her a very dynamic defender. She has the ability to guard in the post and on the perimeter.

Kristen Dickison…..5-6…..Sr…..Milton Union : Extremely athletic multi-sports standout (also a record-setting soccer career). Good leader on the floor as the PG, can score by slashing to the rim, or pop a three over the defense. Runs the floor well on the break and controls her teams offense. Good hard nosed kid.

Abigail Dickson…..5-2…..Soph…..Valley View : Sophomore point guard who has all the skill sets needed to have a successful season. She can handle the basketball as good as any guard in the area and she has great floor vision to make passes to the open teammate. She has great on ball defense and she can score from long range or drive you to the basketball with that quick first step. She is the ultimate team player. She also is an outstanding rebounder who is not afraid to go inside a battle with the bigs.

Ella Doseck…..5-6…..Soph…..Anna : Very quick point guard who can really run a team. Directs traffic, communicates etc… has a really high IQ.  Does not turn it over.  Can handle the ball vs. pressure.  Knows where to make the right play at the right time.  Could be a little more aggressive offensively.  Showed ability to get to the basket with ease.

Maddie Downing…..6-0……Jr…..Tri Village : Averaged 12.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last year.  Shot 59.1% from the field.  Very capable back to the basket player who is comfortable finishing with either hand.  Defensively her size causes problems in the paint for opposing teams. Was an Honorable Mention All Ohio last year.

Layne Ferrell…..6-1…..Sr……Franklin : Layne is a natural scorer and an excellent free throw shooter who has improved her strength over the last year. The Franklin program will rely on her to not only score but defend/rebound/distribute and use her experience as a 3-year starter for leadership. (Signed with Akron)

Kendall Folley…..5-6…..Soph…..Lebanon : One of the top PG in SW Ohio, high motor kid who attacks opponents at both ends of the floor. Ability to finish on the drive with either hand, has extended range and her solid mid-range game all compliment her ability to see and share the ball in the open court.

Kenna Gray…..5-6…..Soph…..Bethel : A gym rat who is constantly working on her game. Has the ability to run the break, get to the rim, or bust open a zone as a major three-point threat. Strong ball handler who can deal with pressure and create. Never satisfied with where she is, always looking to get better. She has a bright future as long as she keeps working.

Presley Griffitts……5-11…..Sr…..Tecumseh : Incredibly athletic player and can beat you in multiple ways. Can shoot overtop the defense if that is what she is given, or can slip by the get to the rim. Extremely effective in transition, can score or create. Harrassing on defense with her quick hands and will push at a high speed. (Signed with IUPUI)

Bree Hall…..5-11…..Soph…..Wayne : Bree has obviously had an incredible summer but she has truly improved in every facet of the game. I think she is mentally ready to step out into the spotlight this season. Athletic, can play anywhere on the floor. Will handle the ball or post up a defender and score. Bigtime player.

Nyla Hampton…..5-7…..Jr…..Wayne : Nyla has gotten physically stronger and visually more explosive. She has the ball on a strength and finishes at the rim with the best of them. She will look to score the ball more and knocking down perimeter shots. As always she is a lock down type of defender.

Morgan Haney…..5-7…..Sr…..Miami East : A strong command for the game. An elite passer who can score the ball at all three levels. High basketball IQ and great court savvy. Excited to see her in the final year with the Vikings. Can take over a game if needed. (Signed with Albany)

Lauren Hapgood…..5-7…..Sr…..Oakwood : Very deceiving with her quickness, can lull you asleep then blow by you to the rim. Great handles, and a strong floor leader. Makes the good pass, and very skilled offensively from the perimeter. Good pull up and working to complete her offensive package. Can run in transition and produce. (Signed with SWOSU)

Shalaya Heath…..6-0…..Sr…..Northmont : A solid offensive rebounder that will finish at the rim with contact. Shay has improved her scoring range out to 10-feet, and is a physical player in the paint. Continuing to work on her game to prepare for the next level.

Emma Hess…..5-10…..Soph…..Legacy Christian : the sky is the limit for this kid, has all the tools to be an elite player for the next three years. Can shoot from anywhere with dependable handles. She draws the attention of everyones best defender, and she is a better kid than player… and that says something.

Alexis Hutchison…..5-7…..Sr…..Centerville : super athletic kid who can hurt you in many ways on the court. Good floor leader and creative on offense, Alexis has a lot of tools including scoring around the rim or the perimeter. Good quickness, solid passer and can get after it on defense.

Mya Jackson…..5-8…..Sr…..Wilmington : Very athletic kid who can play either guard spot effectively. Great handles, distributes well and can score from anywhere on the floor. Can score on the transition due to her ability to create pressure and turnovers. (Signed with Seton Hall)

Julia Keller…..6-0…..Jr…..Carroll : Julia was the leading scorer for Carroll during the regular season with 12.4 ppg. She led the team in rebounds with 8.9 rebounds per game.  Julia was 2nd in the GCL Coed league in rebounds and blocks last year and 4th in field goal percentage.  She is one of the most unselfish players in the area. Solid around the basket, and is a good leader.

Danielle Kunk…..5-7…..Jr…..Versailles : Great perimeter shooter, Danielle can also attack the rim with tenacity. She has great ball handling skills, passing and court vision which will be a key in the Tigers’ offensive attack. This kid continues to improve and will be a force in the Versailles plans this season.

Anna Landing…..6-1…..Soph…..Beavercreek : Good next-level prospect. Always working to get better with a good motor. Can score in the paint, and uses her body well around the rim. Only a sophomore, she will get better and the sky is the limit. Already with D1 offers, Anna is ready to break out on the area scene this season.

Sha’mya Leigh…..5-9…..Sr…..Trotwood Madison : A big guard, long and athletic. A willing passer who shoots the midrange at a solid percentage. Can defend multiple positions and pushes the ball at a high pace. (Signed with Charleston Southern)

Marissa Meiring…..5-9…..Jr…..Fort Loramie : Marissa is a wing/forward with amazing versatility and speed on offense and defense.  Her strength in the post allows for high % shooting in the paint, phenomenal rebounding abilities, and has great instincts for deflections and steals.

Mali Morgan-Elliott…..6-0…..Sr…..Fairmont : Can play multiple positions. Great motor and hustle player. Can attack the rim or shoot the three. Very effective in transition. Rebounds well. High IQ. Can defend multiple positions. (Signed with Toledo)

Mikala Morris…..6-3…..Sr…..Kenton Ridge : Powerful presence on the court. Very strong and dominates the boards. Has added a perimeter aspect to her game. Able to bring the ball up and shoot midrange effectively. Very high basketball IQ. Effective on the block and reads and reacts to defense, great counter moves.

Val Muhlenkamp…..6-2…..Jr…..Fort Recovery : A kid with a lot of potential to be a big threat both inside and outside, creating matchup problems. She has worked hard in the offseason as she continues to develop her game. (Verballed to Findlay)

Rachel Murray…..5-7…..Sr…..Waynesville : Outstanding leader and one of the top three-point shooters in the area. Handles the ball well, a hard worker and a gym rat. Steady player since her freshman season, ready to showcase a big senior season.

Olivia Patch…..6-2…..Jr…..Fort Recovery : Olivia continues to improve, as her game has grown in the past couple of years. She is a gym rat and wants to be a big threat for the Indians team. She has a good back-to-the-basket game and can also step outside. (Verballed to Hillsdale)

Mickayla Perdue…..5-8…..Soph…..Springfield : This kid has a super high motor that doesn’t stop. Great combo guard with solid handles, and the ability to score from anywhere. A solid on-ball defender, Perdue can get by the defense with ease getting to the rim. D1 recruit with three more years of GWOC coaches having to deal with her.

Abbigail Peterson…..5-8…..Soph…..Springfield Catholic Central : Abbi put in extra focus on speed and agility in the off season, and has improved an already strong skill set for the upcoming season. Her ability to provide continuous pressure defense, court vision on offense and a threat with the deep ball should keep opponents on their toes this season.

Trissa Porter…..5-7…..Jr…..Tri Village : Averaged 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game for TV last year.  Has a tremendous gift in her ability to pass the ball and make those around her better.  Really doesn’t have a weakness when it comes to playing the game.  Can take a game over in multiple ways.

Courtney Prenger…..6-2…..Sr…..Minster : Established prospect who played extremely well. Workhorse.  Rebounds on both ends of the floor.  Plays extremely hard.  Showed really good mid-range ability.  Has improved outside shot.  Really good off the dribble attacking and pulling up in the mid-range. Emily Riddle…..5-8…..Sr…..Legacy Christian : a talented shooting guard that can handle it and slash well to the rim. Also has the ability to score long range. A kid that impacts the culture in ways that coaches love.

Kenzi Saunders…..5-6…..Jr…..Middletown Madison : Very high basketball IQ and a good perimeter shooter with solid range. Sees the floor very well, good ball handling skills in traffic. Makes her teammates better and is a very unselfish player.

Lissa Siler…..5-7…..Jr…..Tri Village : Averaged 13.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Pats last year.  Was their reliable perimeter shooter.  She has the ability to score the ball from anywhere on the floor and is particularly good going to her left hand.  She also shot an outstanding 83% from the free throw line.  Plays with an intensity that few can match.  Was a Special Mention All Ohio last year.

Chloe Smith…..5-9…..Sr…..Valley View : Senior guard/wing has a great skill set. Can pull up for a quick jump shot or a three or can attack you off the dribble with that first quick step. She does alot of the little things well.Great player and better yet a great person who leads by working hard. She will sign with Urbana to continue her love for the game. (Signed with Urbana)

Allie Stefanek…..5-6…..Jr…..Carroll : Allie is an all-around dynamic point guard for Carroll. She averaged 11.3 points per game during the regular season last year.  She led the team in assists with 3.5 per game and was 2nd in the GCL Coed league in assists.   With her incredible speed, she is typically matched up defensively with the other team’s best player.

Aubrey Stupp…..5-11…..Jr…..Valley View : Junior a stretch four who has a great skill set, She can attack off the dribble and can pull up and knock down jump shots from anywhere on the floor. She has a great long range shot and she has good hands around the basket. She has a great skill set and a great work ethic and does all the little things that will propel her to the next level. Great athlete who loves the game.

Corinne Thomas…..5-9…..Sr…..Tecumseh : Bigtime offensive threat for her team, used to be known as just a “shooter”, now she can still bust zones, but also get to the rim and to the line, and is a more effective all-around player. Great leader, and will find the open player. Working hard on her defense. (Signed with West Liberty)

Olivia Trice…..5-7…..Sr…..Wayne : Olivia has been playing the best basketball of her career as she has improved her strength and ball handling. She is shooting the ball with extremely high efficiency and is a solid team leader for the Warriors. (Signed with Bowling Green)

Amy Velasco…..5-7…..Soph…..Centerville : This kid is getting better everytime I see her. Legit next-level point guard with solid quickness and can help your team win in various ways. Can either score at the rim or from the perimeter consistently, and defensively she is very effective. Floor general for a very talented Centerville team.

Reagan Ware…..5-5…..Jr…..Greenon : Reagan is a shooter, catch-and-shoot, off a screen or off the dribble. Also a very solid passer and the ultimate team player. Has worked herself into being a solid defender and is getting stronger every day, getting better at scoring through contact.

Olivia Wells…..5-10…..Jr…..Monroe : Has a lot of good intangibles that coaches love. She is a strong, physical player with great size for a guard, Can get to the rim, but can also shoot well from the perimeter. Strong defender, and rebounds on both ends of the floor.

Maddy Westbeld…..6-3……Jr…..Fairmont : Extremely versatile. Can score at all 3 levels. Very good off the dribble, particularly going left. Finishes with both hands. Elite shooter from 3pt range. Length allows her to guard multiple positions. Extremely skilled.

Sammi Whiteman…..5-8…..Sr…..Covington : One of the most electrifying players in the area, Sammi is a very explosive guard who can do a lot on the court. Offensively she is very versatile, as she can get to the rim or bury a three over a defense. Tenacious player who leaves it all on the floor. Good team leaer, high basketball IQ. Ivy Wolf…..5-8…..Soph…..Minster : TOUGH kid. Plays extremely hard.  Can do a little bit of everything.  Can run a team and is vocal in doing so.  Extremely fundamental.  High IQ.  Hits the 3 confidently.  Pure point guard who will get her team the best chance to score, either finding the open player or scoring herself. She is the PG I want to run my team.
